Inventions of scientists of the Silesian University of Technology nominated in the “Eureka”! DGP – we discover Polish inventions” competition
“Special mobile device for disabled people” and “Thin-film solar cell and its production method” are two inventions nominated in the 13th edition of the “Eureka! DGP – we discover Polish inventions” competition.
The aim of the competition is to promote Polish science and innovative inventions created at universities, research institutes and scientific units of the Polish Academy of Sciences, submitted to the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland.
The idea of the “Eureka! DGP – we discover Polish inventions” competition is a presentation of solutions that have real application in practice and can be used in the economy and production.
In this year’s edition of the competition, two inventions of our scientists were nominated.
Special mobile device for disabled persons
Thanks to this invention, the daily care, transport, and rehabilitation of people with motor disabilities can be greatly facilitated. The device allows to increase the comfort of life of both disabled people and their carers.

Thin-film solar cell and its production method
The invention concerns a new type of thin-film, light and flexible solar cell made of silicon, which can be produced at a lower temperature and with less material consumption than traditional photovoltaic panels. The technology allows to produce such cells on glass, polymer, or metal foil, which significantly expands the range of their applications.
