“This guiding idea will help to establish closer contacts, not only educational, but perhaps also scientific, on what to do to make post-industrial areas greener. Gliwice is a good place to discuss these topics, we are in the centre of the region, where once heavy industry prevailed, and today it is evolving into green Silesia – said Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Sebastian Werle, Vice-Dean for Cooperation and Development of the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering, who from 1st September will be Vice-Rector for Science and International Cooperation of the Silesian University of Technology.
The participants of the meeting got acquainted with the history of the establishment of the academic district of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, the plans include, among others, talks about the history of mining in Silesia, the green future of the region, circular economy and ways to use post-mine infrastructure as part of the energy transformation.
