International Conference "Transport Problems"
For the fifteenth time, transporters from around the world met at the International Scientific Conference "Transport Problems". The event, which took place from 21st to 23rd June 2023, was organized by the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology.
The conference was preceded by the XII Symposium of Young Scientists conducting research related to the broadly understood issues of transport. These two events brought together almost 250 specialists from 27 countries and 5 continents. The post-conference publication (Conference Proceedings TP'2023) included 85 papers.
The plenary session of the conference was held at the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology. It was opened by the conference coordinator prof. Aleksander Sładkowski. Welcome speeches were delivered by the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, prof. Arkadiusz Mężyk and the mayor of Katowice, Dr Marcin Krupa. The third patron was the National Representation of PhD Students. - The plenary session was attended by leading scientists from Poland, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Bulgaria, Germany and Hungary representing all sectors of transport, as well as representatives of the Road Traffic Department of the Police and the Provincial Road Transport Inspectorate. Subsequently, the proceedings were held in 10 sections in two parallel streams. Particular interest was aroused by the papers of delegations from China, France, Slovakia and Jordan - said prof. Aleksander Sładkowski.
During the plenary session there was a ceremonial signing of the cooperation agreement (MoU) between the Institute of Control Systems in Baku (Azerbaijan) and the Silesian University of Technology. The agreement was signed by the Rector of the University, prof. Arkadiusz Mężyk and General Director of the Institute of Control Systems prof. Ali Abbasov.
One of the topics of the "Transport Problems" conference was the production industry of means of transport in southern Poland as well as the operation of transport and logistics in our region.

- Participants of the conference and symposium could also get acquainted with the production of car lighting components at the Marelli Poland Sp. z o. o - Automotive Lighting, located in Sosnowiec, where the research and development department is also located. In addition, they could get acquainted with the functioning of the modern intelligent traffic control system ITS in Tychy. Visiting the ruins of the Royal Castle in Olsztyn near Częstochowa, the Monastery of the Paulines at Jasna Góra and the former Dietl Palace in Sosnowiec, they had the opportunity to learn about the culture and history of Poland - said prof. Sładkowski.
The continuous development of the conference is evidenced primarily by the fact that the organizers of the competition: Excellent science - Support for scientific conferences, prepared a project entitled "Intercontinental Conference: “Transport Problems" as an element of improving Polish Science". Thanks to this, the event was co-financed from the state budget under the program of the Minister of Education and Science under the name "Excellent Science".
One of the tasks within this project was to finance simultaneous translation for three languages: Polish, English and Russian (for participants from Eastern Europe and Asia who learned this language years ago and still use it). According to the guidelines, there were no participants from Russia and Belarus. - The importance of ensuring the possibility of simultaneous translation was already revealed during the plenary session, where many participants took advantage of this option - added Professor Sładkowski.
For the fourth time, participants who, for various reasons, could not get to the conference venue took part in it online, as the event was organized in a hybrid mode.
The organizers already invite you to the next conference "Transport Problems", which will be held from 17th to 21st June 2024.
