Inaugural lecture by the rector of the Jagiellonian University, prof. Jacek Popiel
We invite you to a lecture by the rector of the Jagiellonian University, vice-president of CRASP, prof. Jacek Popiel entitled "Can a new Copernicus appear in our education system"? The lecture will take place on October 4th, 2023, during the ceremonial Inauguration of the Academic Year 2023/2024 at the Silesian University of Technology.
Professor Jacek Popiel is the rector of the Jagiellonian University, an outstanding theatre and literary expert. He has been working at the Jagiellonian University since 1977. For many years he was also associated with the Ludwik Solski State Higher Theatre School in Kraków (currently St. Wyspiański AST National Academy of Theatre Arts), where he served as rector for two terms.
He is interested in the history of Polish drama and theatre in the 19th and 21st centuries, the history of theatre education and the scientific edition of literary texts. He is the author of over 200 works, including: 20 books, including 6 individual books, articles and reviews, as well as several theatre scripts. His texts have been translated into English, French, Italian and Spanish.
Prof. Jacek Popiel has been vice-chairman of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (CRASP) since 2020.
