How will the region change? The competition “Tomorrow is Happening Now” begins
What might the future of the Silesian mining subregions look like and how will the changes taking place in them affect the lives of residents? These questions are to be answered by the participants of the competition “Tomorrow is happening now – Design the future of the region.”
The competition is organized by the University of Silesia in Katowice as part of the project “Supporting the process of just transformation through the promotion of higher education.”
The task of the participants is to prepare an audiovisual reportage in which they will present their vision of changes taking place in one of the seven mining sub-regions of the Silesian Voivodeship. The organizers ask, among others, how the transformation can affect education, work, and the future of residents.
The competition is addressed to students and adults learning or working in one of the seven mining sub-regions: Katowice, Sosnowiec, Tychy, Bytom, Gliwice, Rybnik, and Bielsko.
The report can be prepared individually or in a group of up to three people. The film must not be longer than 5 minutes.
The organizers are waiting for applications until October 15th , 2026. The winning projects will be presented during the jubilee 10th edition of the Silesian Science Festival Katowice at the International Congress Centre in Katowice.
