Holiday GeoPicture
The Department of Applied Geology of the Silesian University of Technology invites you to participate in the 4th edition of the photography competition "Holiday GeoPicture - Wakacyjna GeoFotka", which is addressed to secondary school pupils and offers attractive prizes.
As part of the Katowice European City of Science 2024 celebrations, we invite you to take part in a unique photography competition that perfectly fits into the assumptions of this prestigious program. Its aim is to popularize natural sciences, especially earth sciences, among secondary school pupils. The competition involves taking a photo of a geological object and a short description of that object.
Attractive prizes (tourist equipment, Kindle Paperwhite 5 readers) will be distributed in two categories: “The best photo of a geological object" and „The most interesting description of the photo". All participants will receive diplomas.
Competition entries must be submitted electronically by September 30th , 2024, using the online form, which, together with the regulations, is available at the following link: www.polsl.pl/rg5/wakacyjna-geofotka/
For more information, please contact: jacek.nowak@polsl.pl
The competition supports geological education and raises awareness of the importance of nature conservation. Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about various geological formations, minerals and rocks that are an integral part of the heritage of Silesia and other regions of Poland and the world. In this way, through the lens of a camera, they can discover the beauty and diversity of our planet.
With this initiative, Katowice European City of Science 2024 promotes interdisciplinarity and creativity by combining the art of photography with geological sciences. The competition not only encourages active participation in the scientific life of the city, but also inspires the search for knowledge and appreciation of the scientific heritage of our region.
The event is carried out in the City-Region-Academy band as part of the celebrations of the European City of Science Katowice 2024. The event is co-financed by the Silesian Voivodeship - Co-organizer of the European City of Science Katowice 2024.
