As usual, June is a month of successes for the High Flyers Inter-Faculty Student Research Club at Droniada GZM. This time, students of our University won as many as four awards!
The 13th edition of Droniada GZM 2026 is behind us. One of its elements is the Droniada Challenge. This is a technology competition combining computer science, mechatronics and robotics with aviation. The scenarios in each competition are based on situations that could occur in real life, in which drones can provide real support to people.
Our students won first place in two competitions – System Demo and Droneball. In the first one, the winner was decided by Internet users' votes. Droneball, in turn, was a new competition in the tournament, in which the skills of pilots were valued in matches between teams. The competitors also had to design and 3D print exoskeletons for the machines themselves. The drones flew enclosed in special, circular cages lit with LEDs.
In addition, students of the Silesian University of Technology took third place in the Relay competition and also received a special award from Flytronic. They were appreciated for their website, where they displayed real-time flight data.
- It was a testing time for our equipment, algorithms and, above all, for our team. Effect? We proved that we are at the forefront – the students from High Flyers summed up their success.
