In 2024, a number of pro-quality programmes were implemented for employees, doctoral students, undergraduates, postgraduates, and secondary school students.

Pro-quality programmes are the main instrument for implementing the development strategy of Silesian University of Technology and the action plan under the Excellence Initiative - Research University programme. They are aimed at motivating and supporting employees, postgraduate students and undergraduate students in the development of their scientific careers, increasing internationalisation and improving the quality of education based on research and innovation, as well as dual degree programmes.

In 2024, the Rector awarded a total of more than 5,450 pro-quality grants, subsidies and scholarships to more than 915 employees, 326 doctoral candidates and 293 students, and decided to recruit 11 people within the framework of the competition for outstanding young researchers and outstanding experienced researchers within the IDUB programme; to increase the subsidies for all basic units; and to fund 203 PBL projects, in which more than 1,054 students, 64 secondary school pupils, and 355 supervisors participated, and 189 student research association projects, which were carried out by 510 students and 89 supervisors. In addition, two editions of the Programme for the Implementation of Projects with Secondary School Students were launched, with 176 projects implemented and 237 secondary school students declaring their participation.

A detailed breakdown of the beneficiaries of the various programmes is given below.

1. Pro-quality funding for publications in the top 1%, top 5%, top 10% journals, Nature or Science journals and for monographs in high-scoring publications under the Excellence Initiative - Research University programme.

2. Pro-quality funding for publications in collaboration with an author representing a foreign research centre, a non-university partner or another scientific discipline under the Excellence Initiative - Research University programme.

3. Pro quality funding for teams carrying out Horizon 2020 or Horizon Europe projects under the Excellence Initiative - Research Universities programme.

4. Funding for ground-breaking research under the Excellence Initiative - Research University Programme

5. Support for the initiation of research activities in a new research topic under the Excellence Initiative - Research University Programme

6. Funding of basic research carried out in collaboration with a foreign partner which will lead to an application for project funding from external sources under the Excellence Initiative - Research University programme.

7. Grants for international doctoral students under the Excellence Initiative - Research University programme

9. Grants for supervisors and assistant supervisors for joint doctoral studies with foreign institutions under the Excellence Initiative - Research University Programme

11. Grants to increase the capacity to acquire international projects, in particular under the Excellence Initiative - Research University programme

13. Grants related to the employment of a staff member in a research position funded by external sources

14. Rector's grants for high-scoring publications, granted patents, acquired research projects or scientific research work

15. Rector's Habilitation Grants under the Excellence Initiative – Research University programme

17. Proofreading of high-scoring publications or patent applications under Excellence Initiative – Research University programme

20. Recruitment of outstanding young researchers from the country or abroad in the topics of priority research areas, within the framework of the Excellence Initiative - Research University programme

21. Scholarships for the best foreign students of the Silesian University of Technology who start full-time studies at the 1st or 2nd degree level.

22. Funding for student research association projects under the Excellence Initiative - Research University Programme

23. Funding for Project-Based Learning - PBL, under the Excellence Initiative - Research University Programme

24. Mentoring Programme within the Excellence Initiative - Research University Programme

26. Scholarships for students who have completed an outstanding project as part of a programme for financing projects carried out with secondary school students, under the IDUB programme

27. Funding for projects with secondary school students under the Excellence Initiative - Research University Programme

28. Pro-Quality Programme for Investment in the Development of Internationalisation within the Excellence Initiative Programme - Research University

29. Pro-quality allowances for persons employed within one year of obtaining a doctoral degree, under the Excellence Initiative – Research University programme

30. Pro-quality funding for participation in scientific research and service-related research works provided to external entities under the Excellence Initiative – Research University programme

31. Scholarships related to starting a spin-off or spin-out company in priority research areas

32. Grants to subsidise the costs of moving to the Silesian University of Technology for those employed in the programme for outstanding young researchers and outstanding experienced researchers under the Excellence Initiative - Research University programme

33. Increase in the subsidy to basic units for the implementation of the task of flexibilisation of teaching salaries, i.e. settlement of reduced salaries for projects and postdoctoral and professorial grants, within the framework of the IDUB programme

34. Grants for academic teachers employed under competitions for outstanding young and outstanding experienced scientists, to finance or co-finance the purchase of materials and equipment and other forms of scientific activity, uder the IDUB programme
