Graduates of the Faculty of Architecture with a prestigious distinction
Graduates of the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology – Patrycja Baran, Agata Goleśna and Julia Wild, have won the competition organized by the National Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning “Shared space is a value.”
The competition was aimed at distinguishing the best diploma theses – master’s theses, touching on the subject of broadly understood common spaces. The prizes were awarded in two categories – design and theoretical.
In the category of design work, the Main Prize was awarded to Julia Wild for her work entitled “Land of the Borderlands. A project that results in the notion that much more attention is required to what is invisible” The project promoter was Dr Eng. Arch. Jan Kubec.
The prize was awarded for the unique creation of a memory space in the East Roztocze region. The author pointed to the cultural and natural values of this region, which are unique on a European scale, yet (and perhaps because of this) have a universal dimension.
The distinction in the same category was awarded to Patrycja Baran for her work entitled “Trzebyczka Stream. Shaping the blue-green infrastructure,” whose promoter was Dr Hab. Eng. Arch. Krzysztof Kafka, Prof. SUT.
In the theoretical work category, Agata Goleśna was awarded the distinction for her work entitled “Using the idea of neurourban planning to improve the quality of life in the built-up environment and reduce urban stress.” The promoter of the work was Dr Hab. Eng. Arch. Szymon Opania, Prof. SUT.
