Good teaching practices
In the Centre for Modern Education of the Silesian University of Technology, the second edition of the training series “Good Practices of conducting didactic classes” was held, addressed to doctoral students and young research and teaching staff. The aim of the cycle was to support novice educators in developing competences necessary for effective and modern ways of conducting classes with students – both in Polish and English.
The first meeting took place on the 7th of October 2025 and inaugurated the second edition of the program. The participants were welcomed by Prof. Anna Chrobok , Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education and Dr in Social Sciences Anna Waligóra, The Head of the Centre for Modern Education, During the training, issues related to the role of the academic teacher, methodology of conducting classes, self-presentation, evaluation of learning outcomes and cooperation with students from abroad were discussed.
Another training, for the second group of participants, which took place on October 10th, 2025, continued the subject of good practices in academic teaching. The meeting was opened by Prof. Beata Orlińska, Director of the College of Studies and Dr in Social Sciences Anna Waligóra. The participants took part in workshops, conducted by experienced lecturers, devoted, among others, to the ethics of the academic teacher, effective communication, motivating students and modern teaching methods based on the principles of neurodidactics.
The last meeting of the cycle took place on 14th of October 2025 in the Library of the Silesian University of Technology and was conducted in English. It was attended by doctoral students preparing to conduct classes in an international academic environment.
The program covered topics such as communication and academic culture, the role of the teacher as a mentor, presentation of knowledge, assessment of learning outcomes and neurodidactics in modern education.
