Game Music Fest 2026 – music and technology

Thousands of participants, four days of events, four events and four locations - including learning, shows, and participation of our students. This is what this year’s Game Music Fest 2026 looked like. The festival showed how strongly the world of music is connected today with computer games and new technologies.

The event was opened by GameMusicFest.lab at the headquarters of Keywords Studios. It was a day full of presentations of student projects, workshops, and debates with the participation of experts.

The event was devoted to the transformation of the region through culture and to the new models of development of Silesia. The importance of cooperation between culture, science, the game industry, and new technologies was emphasized.

The meeting was attended by the students of the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science. Their scientific supervisor is M.Sc. Eng. Piotr Bartosz from the Department of Computer Graphics, Vision, and Digital Systems.

The second day was marked by wide possibilities, which were presented in the Silesian Planetarium. Space projects of students from student research clubs accompanied the intriguing fusion of classical and electronic music and spatial visualizations.

On the third, main day, the festival moved to Katowice Spodek, where crowds of participants were waiting for numerous attractions organized by students and employees from the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science.

- One could see presentations of virtual reality technology, try on haptic gloves, get on the omnidirectional treadmill, learn, and see how flight simulators are created, test the latest models of artificial intelligence and, of course, play games created by students. The final concert was performed by a 130-person orchestra with the choir of the Silesian Philharmonic, all combined with spectacular special effects and visualizations co-created by our students (Adam Wola, Natalia Koim, Piotr Buchner) – says Dr Hab. Eng. Agnieszka Fornalczyk, prof. SUT.

The last day of the event was very intimate and took place at the seat of the Silesian Philharmonic. The finale was a concert of film music, accompanied by intriguing holographic visualizations displayed above the orchestra.
