Female students of Silesian University of Technology winners of the International "Re-connect" Competition
Pola Sięka and Paulina Ryszka, female students of interior design, received the main prize for their project "ECO-MODULAR" at the International Competition "Re-connect".
Street furniture and small landscape objects constituted the main subject of the international competition "Re-connect”. The participants were supposed to design furniture for public spaces taking into account the principles of social distancing.
"ECO-MODULAR" is a concept for modular benches with natural vegetation as partitions. Designed by Pola Sieka and Paulina Ryszka, the street furniture will not only help maintain the required distance between people but may also become an interesting, modern and environmentally friendly components of public space. As the competition jury indicates, the design is versatile and can be used in both larger and smaller cities, as well as countries with a diverse climate.
In the project by students of the Silesian University of Technology, modern benches were located in Silesia Park, which is a meeting and leisure area for the residents of the neighbouring cities.
The project was created as part of the furniture design course taught by Agnieszka Pluszczewicz MA, and Krzysztof Groń PhD.
