Experts from the Silesian University of Technology at the European Economic Congress 2023

Almost 170 debates and 11,000 participants - this is how the European Economic Congress in Katowice, which ends today, can be summed up in a nutshell. For the last three days, key issues have been discussed at the International Congress Centre, including: energy transformation, international cooperation and modern technologies. The Silesian University of Technology is the institutional partner of the event.

The European Economic Congress in Katowice is one of the most important business events not only in the region, but also in the country. Every year the event gains in importance due to the participants and guests from many countries. As a result, discussions on key issues for the proper functioning of the economy are discussed comprehensively - from a regional, but also an international perspective.

This year, the organizers have prepared 168 debates. They were also attended by representatives of the Silesian University of Technology.

One of the key topics during the ECE was the energy transformation and the possibility of using hydrogen technologies.

- The Silesian University of Technology has been strongly interested in this topic for years. We have launched MBA studies in this area, we operate in several fields of study. As a university, we should therefore take part in discussions about the energy transformation of the region - said prof. dr hab. Eng. Janusz Kotowicz- Vice-Rector for Collaboration with Civic and Economic Environment

The voice of the Silesian University of Technology was also an important point in the debate on the education of the future.

- Education for the industry is our key task. The role of the Silesian University of Technology is to respond to the needs of the market. The European Economic Congress is an excellent opportunity to ask industry representatives in behind-the-scenes conversations whether we are fulfilling our role well - said dr hab. Eng. Tomasz Trawiński - Vice-Rector for Infrastructure and Promotion of the Silesian University of Technology.

The quality of future education was also discussed during the debate on building international cooperation by Polish universities. Representatives of universities shared their experiences in this area.

- European alliances are an extremely important undertaking. As the Silesian University of Technology, we currently operate in the structure of 9 universities within the EURECA-PRO alliance. I would like the Silesian University of Technology to be an active partner of many prestigious consortia in such cooperation and that we would also go beyond Europe - stressed prof. dr hab. Eng. Marek Pawełczyk, Vice-Rector for Science and Development.

The participants also heard about the potential of scientists from the Silesian University of Technology during the panel on Industry 4.0 and technologies for the future, as well as on the last day, when investments related to the development of medicine were discussed.

The European Economic Congress was an opportunity to present the potential of the Silesian University of Technology. The SUT stand was visited by many people interested in the latest technologies, as well as establishing scientific and business cooperation.
