Exhibition of works by students from the Faculty of Architecture
Until 18 February you can watch an exhibition of works by students from the Faculty of Architecture at the Silesian University of Technology. These works display compositional arrangements of an architectural character created as an introduction to architectural creations.
These works are part of the "Introduction to Architectural Design" course, which is taught in the first semester in the field of architecture as a major, developing skills in creating simple plastic compositions and providing insight into basic architectural and plastic concepts.
The presented works include three tasks, from flat ones through reliefs (up to 5 cm high) to spatial ones contained in a conventional cube with sides of 30 cm.
- Showing simple notions such as landmarks, rigidity-angularity, arrangement, symmetry, dynamics and others on the created models facilitates the application of these features in creating architectural designs and demonstrates their ambiguity or complexity – explains Lech Wojtas PhD, Eng. Arch.
- An additional effect for the participants of these classes is the mastery in creating models, which were and still are of great importance in the presentation of the author's visions in the 21st century - adds the architect.
The works presented at the exhibition are a realisation of the proprietary programme of the course tutor, Lech Wojtas PhD, Eng., Arch., in the academic year 2021/2022. The exhibition can be seen until 18 February at the Centre for New Technologies at ul. Konarskiego.
The following experienced teachers are the tutors of the design classes: Professor K. Zalewski PhD, DSc, Arch., K. Kozak PhD, Eng. Arch., D. Płocica, R. Radziewicz-Winnicki, L. Wojtas, A. Ziębik as well as M. Machulik MSc, Eng., Arch. and M. Wenklar.
