Eugeniusz KOSEK, PhD passed away

It is with deep regret that we inform about the death of Eugeniusz Kosek PhD, valued researcher and academic teacher, specialised in computer science, author of publications and academic textbooks. He passed away on 3rd of November 2021 at the age of 80.

Eugeniusz Kosek was actively involved in the development of computer science at our University and in the region for over 40 years of his work. From the very beginning of his professional career (just after graduation in 1963) until 1994 he was connected with the Computer Centre of the Silesian University of Technology (then newly established Centre of Mathematical Machines). He actively participated in all stages of its development, working his way up to the position of assistant professor after his doctoral dissertation in 1974. From 1994, until his retirement in 2009, he worked at the Institute of Electronics - Department of Digital and Microprocessor Circuits at the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science of the Silesian University of Technology.

Eugeniusz Kosek developed a number of specialised software and calculation systems in various fields of engineering activity in electricity, construction, mining, chemistry, medicine and economics.

A modest, kind and hard-working man, of high personal culture and great teaching talent, has passed away. Known for his conscientiousness and reliability in every field of professional activity, he was universally admired by his colleagues and students.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on 25th of November 2021 at the Church of Christ the King in Gliwice. The Mass will be followed by a funeral ceremony at Lipowy Cemetery in Gliwice.
