Engineers from Yanshan University received diplomas at the Silesian University of Technology
Nearly 60 graduates have received double first-cycle graduation diplomas of Chinese and our University. The education of students from the Middle Kingdom at the Silesian University of Technology is the result of many years of cooperation with the Yanshan University European Institute.
Newly graduated engineers from the first year, who graduated in engineering studies at the Silesian University of Technology, received their diplomas on Wednesday, June the 18th, during a solemn academy with the participation of the authorities of both universities. Students from China are graduates of four faculties: Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Chemistry as well as Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science.
- Cooperation with Yanshan University is the result of hard, long-term work. Already in 2015, we initiated the first joint student programs, and today we celebrate a great success, that is, the awarding of double diplomas of engineering studies. We are very proud of this, and we congratulate the students - said Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Anna Chrobok, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education.
Students received a bachelor’s degree diploma from Yanshan University and an engineering diploma from the Silesian University of Technology. After a year of study at their home university, they continued their studies in Poland, often leaving their country for the first time, which was associated with challenges, new experiences and getting to know foreign culture.
- In Poland I had a chance to get to know a different kind of studying and lifestyle. I noticed a lot of differences, from food to culture. It was exciting and inspiring for me, - said student Yumeng Lu.
- The lecturers in Poland are very patient and have always provided us with the help we needed, and our tutors from China have been very supportive of us. The other students were very friendly, - added student Zhengqi Li.
Students emphasize that their stay in Poland was a chance to broaden their perspectives and an opportunity for development. The education they received at the Silesian University of Technology allows them to continue their studies at second-cycle studies in prestigious universities around the world.
- The double diploma also gives me more opportunities in the job market, some of us intend to return to China and look for employment in international companies. I just applied to two universities for second-cycle studies in the UK and Australia, - said Yumeng Lu.
- My plan for the future is to study at Uppsala University in Sweden, here I have gained a good foundation for further development, - said Zhengqi Li.
The Yanshan University European Institute was established in February 2021 by the Silesian University of Technology and Yanshan University from China. Currently, more than 250 students from Yanshan University study in Gliwice, and recruitment for the next academic year is ongoing.
- Thanks to this, the Silesian University of Technology develops international cooperation, it is worth emphasizing that it is not only in the field of education, but also in the field of science. In this way, we are building our strong position in the world - said Prof Chrobok.
As part of this cooperation, students of our University have the opportunity to visit the Middle Kingdom and take part in interesting educational programs, and at the same time get to know Chinese culture. This summer, a free summer school will be held at Yanshan University.
