Energy Transformation - a new field of postgraduate studies

The Silesian University of Technology, the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin and the ENERGO-COMPLEX company from Piekary Śląskie are establishing the first consortium in Poland in the field of postgraduate studies in Energy Transformation.

The process of changing the way we obtain, process and consume energy requires extensive cooperation between science and business. The answer to this need is the Energy Transformation Academy established in Silesia - a competence hub supporting the reconstruction of the power industry.

The next step in the development of ATE (Energy Transformation Academy) is the opening of postgraduate studies in the field of Energy Transformation at the Silesian University of Technology and the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin. The consortium agreement between ENERGO-COMPLEX (the creator of ATE), which is part of the global trend of sustainable development, and the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin and the Silesian University of Technology was signed on February 12, 2024, at the headquarters of ENERGO-COMPLEX in Piekary Śląskie. It is not without reason that the conference was held at the headquarters of ENERGO-COMPLEX Sp. z o. o This is where the electro-prosumer shield operating on the company's premises ensures energy self-sufficiency of up to 70%.

– Energy transformation is not only a necessity resulting from climate and regulatory obligations, but also an opportunity for economic, social and technological development. To meet this challenge, we need highly qualified staff who have up-to-date, comprehensive and practical knowledge about the energy transformation and its impact on various sectors and areas of life. The Energy Transformation Academy is an educational initiative that aims to provide the knowledge and tools needed to achieve ambitious transformation goals - says dr Eng. Marek Szrot, president of the management board of Energo-Complex sp. z o. o., organizer of ATE.

Postgraduate studies co-created by ATE are addressed to people who want to deepen their knowledge and skills in the field of energy transformation, both from a technical, economic, legal and social perspective. They are also part of a larger project, the Energy Transformation Academy, which conducts educational, research and innovative activities related to the energy transformation.

– The study program will be consistent with the latest trends and challenges in the field of energy transformation. It covers such issues as: renewable energy, energy efficiency, energy storage, smart grids, electromobility, energy policy, economics and financing of energy transformation, legal and social aspects of energy transformation, project and change management in energy transformation - announces prof. dr Eng. Marian Kampik, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

Energy transformation is a global trend that, in addition to undeniable benefits, also brings challenges such as ensuring energy security and reducing energy poverty, achieving climate goals and the need to respond to the needs of a changing economy.

– The offer will allow postgraduate students to increase their value on the labour market and gain a competitive advantage in a dynamically changing economic environment. Additionally, they will be able to broaden their horizons and understand the complexity and importance of the energy transformation process for the modern world. We believe that graduates will contribute to building a sustainable, effective and safe economy, as well as create innovations that will serve the social good and protect the environment - says dr hab. Eng. Krzysztof Okarma, prof. West Pomeranian University of Technology, Dean of the Electrical Engineering Department at West Pomeranian University of Technology.

Postgraduate studies in Energy Transformation are a two-semester program that includes 220 hours of theoretical and practical classes conducted by qualified and experienced lecturers from ENERGO-COMPLEX Sp. z o. o., the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin and the Silesian University of Technology.
