EHTIC Will Provide Training for Surgeons
A modern Robotic Surgery Competence Centre will be established in Zabrze – the first training centre in Poland available to medical teams from across the country and Eastern Europe, and dedicated to the Versius system – surgical robots used to carry out minimally invasive procedures.
The project is the result of cooperation between Innovaris – the exclusive partner of CMR Surgical in Poland, the Anmar Group and the European HealthTech Innovation Center (EHTIC). It aims to support hospitals and medical teams in preparing for the implementation of robotic surgery. On 21 August 2025, a letter of intent regarding this matter was signed in Zabrze.
The Robotic Surgery Competence Centre at EHTIC will provide training on the Versius robot in conditions closely simulating a real operating theatre. The program will cover not only working with the robot, but also full preparation for operating in a robotic theatre – from planning the procedure to communication during surgery.
– Silesian University of Technology and EHTIC have been investing in the development of innovative medical technologies for years. Collaboration with Innovaris and the Anmar Group is the next step in strengthening Silesia’s position as a leader in medical technology in Central and Eastern Europe. As a technical university, we consistently support innovations that have a direct impact on improving the quality of patients life – emphasized Professor Zbigniew Paszenda, Vice Rector for Infrastructure and Investment.
The Centre will operate to the standards of the CMR Surgical programme accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of England. This program combines simulator training, VR and e-learning components, as well as work on procedural pathways, with its quality confirmed by international partnerships – including IRCAD, a global leader in minimally invasive surgery training
– Surgical robotics is introducing a new culture of collaboration within the surgical team. It provides enhanced precision and control throughout the procedure. It is not only a technology, but a way of thinking and organising that necessitates comprehensive training for the entire team. The robot itself is not sufficient – a team able to fully utilize its potential is essential. Our ambition is to establish a centre that will serve as a benchmark for the whole of Poland – stated Marcin Bruszewski, President of Innovaris.
The collaboration between Innovaris, the Anmar Group and EHTIC brings together expertise in medical robotics with the research and development infrastructure of one of the country’s most advanced institutions. The shared goal is to establish an ecosystem that facilitates the implementation of advanced surgical technologies and ensures the improvement of training processes based on international standards.
EHTIC has infrastructure that enables the simulation of medical procedures and testing of devices under near-clinical conditions. It is a centre where innovations are developed through close collaboration between science, business, and clinical practice.

– Cooperation with Innovaris and the Anmar Group will bring together the expertise and experience of surgeons from across Poland, also from smaller centres, which will help reduce inequalities in access to modern surgery. It is a unique combination of technology, education, and practice – points out Professor Marcin Kaczmarek, PhD, DSc ,Director of EHTIC.
Innovaris is part of the Anmar Group, which has been supporting Polish hospitals for over 20 years in the field of comprehensive equipment for operating theatres, intensive care units and oncology, as well as IT systems. In recent years, the company has also been expanding its offerings in the field of central sterile supply departments, which represents a promising direction for further investment. A holistic approach, combining technology, education and organisational support, enables the effective implementation of modern solutions and raises standards of care.
– As the Anmar Group, we take a holistic view of hospital operations: patient and medical staff safety, hospital economics, technology, education, service, and workflow organisation must form an integrated system. 'Healthcare redefined' is not only a slogan for us, but above all a guiding philosophy – we are changing the way healthcare is perceived and delivered. The Robotic Surgery Competence Centre in Zabrze is a natural extension of this philosophy – a place where innovative technologies merge with the expertise of medical and scientific teams to realistically improve the quality of patient treatment - emphasises Piotr Bluszcz, President of the Management Board of the Anmar Group.
The centre will be a place where Innovaris' leading experts will share their knowledge – trainers with many years of experience in robotic surgery and an excellent command of the Versius system, who have been training operators and teams across Poland for years. CMR Surgical brings technology and training know-how developed in leading centres around the world. EHTIC provides modern infrastructure and an environment conducive to innovation, while ensuring that the centre will be accessible to hospitals and medical teams from every region of the country.
The centre is scheduled to open in September 2025. The investment aligns with the dynamic growth of the global medical robotics market which - according to Fortune Business Insights, could reach a value of USD 45.9 billion by 2034.
