ECTS points for involvement in research projects!
Silesian University of Technology is launching a new program for students, which supports the development of scientific interests and encourages additional activities in the form of participation in research works conducted at the University.
The beginning of the academic year brings new development opportunities for students of the Silesian University of Technology. The development of scientific interests from now on will be rewarded.
By engaging in research projects, a student can obtain learning outcomes identical with those provided for some of the classes included in the study plan. The system of passing classes through involvement in research teams will be similar to the one that some students have already experienced during the implementation of PBL projects. In practice, this means that students will be able to devote more time to pursuing their scientific passions and, at the same time, obtain ECTS credits, necessary to pass the next stages of education.
Who can take advantage of this opportunity? Any student who conducts research under the guidance of an academic teacher and has met the relevant formal requirements. These requirements include, first, submitting an application with information about planned scientific research conducted under the supervision of an academic teacher to the appropriate Vice-Dean for Student Affairs and Education / Deputy Director for Student Affairs and Education. The application must be submitted within 14 days of the start of classes in a given semester in which the student plans to engage in a scientific project. ECTS credits can be allocated in the course of classes taking place in the semester in which the student conducted the research or in the following semester. For participation in scientific projects, students can receive from 2 to 4 ECTS credits per semester.
The condition for the allocation of points is to submit a final report, at the latest on the day of the end of classes in the semester.
Participation in research projects is not only an opportunity for the student to gain additional competences and ECTS credits, but above all an investment in the future scientific and professional career.
