Drawing Week as part of the European City of Science 2024
The third of 50 weeks in the City of Science in 2024 is Drawing Week. The event takes place as part of the European City of Science 2024 celebrations.
Workshops (drawing and music), lectures, performance, concert, installation and four exhibitions. Drawing Week in the City of Science begins on January 15th . This is a series of events that focus on drawing as a medium, as a technique or for which drawing was and is an inspiration.
Drawing Week is dedicated to the medium of communication that permeates all spheres of human activity from an early age. Before it becomes an expression of skills undergoing the education/training process, it is primarily one of the first and most natural cognitive tools, a way of expressing feelings and emotions, a record of ideas, a sign of presence and a trace of action.
– We want to show a drawing in which we do not always have to notice a work of art, when it is an image of unconscious thinking or when we perceive it with senses other than sight. A drawing that, thanks to a thinking hand, helps us experience material concreteness, reveals various symbolic fields, and sometimes becomes a useful therapeutic agent - inform Grzegorz Hańderek and Paulina Walczak-Hańderek, curators of the week.
