Dr Karol Pethe has passed away

We regret to inform you that on July 27^th , 2023, at the age of 92, Dr Karol Pethe, a long-time employee of the Institute of Mathematics of the Silesian University of Technology (1956-2006), passed away.

Dr Karol Pethe was born on January 13, 1931, in Mysłowice, graduated in mathematics from the University of Wrocław in 1956, and obtained his doctorate at the University of Silesia in 1972. He conducted research in the field of analytical functions and applications of mathematics. He enjoyed great popularity among academic youth. Awarded many times, e.g., Golden Badge for Merits for the Katowice Voivodeship.

The funeral mass will take place on August 1^st, 2023 (Tuesday) in the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Mysłowice at 8:45, after which the deceased will be escorted to the Parish Cemetery in Mysłowice, at Mikołowska Street.
