Dr Eng. Wojciech Uchman is a Ministry of Education and Science scholarship holder and a laureate of the Bekker NAWA Program

Dr Eng. Wojciech Uchman from the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering among the winners of the prestigious scholarship of the Minister of Education and Science for outstanding young scientists and this year's beneficiaries of the Bekker NAWA Program.

The MEiN scholarship for outstanding young scientists is a prestigious distinction awarded for the entirety of scientific achievements. In the case of Dr Uchman, a laureate in the discipline of environmental engineering, mining and energy, scientific publications were of particular importance, as well as the application nature of the conducted research, confirmed by the co-authorship of several patents. The research project management and international cooperation so far were also appreciated.

Wojciech Uchman conducts research under the 6th Priority Research Area "Climate and environmental protection, modern energy", dealing with energy and economic analyses of distributed energy systems. He conducts work on gas micro-cogeneration and its integration within complex systems based on renewable energy sources and energy storage. Dr Eng. Wojciech Uchman is also involved in the area of hydrogen energy, focusing on the aspect of systemic coordination of hydrogen production and its temporary storage for integration with conversion installations to synthetic fuels. Every day, Dr Eng. Wojciech Uchman carries out research work at the Department of Power Engineering and Turbomachinery, mainly in the team of Professor Janusz Kotowicz.

The scientist is constantly developing international cooperation. Last month, he also became a laureate in the Mieczysław Bekker programme, financed by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange. Dr Eng. Wojciech Uchman will conduct research on modelling energy clusters, taking into account energy storage using hydrogen techniques, in cooperation with a research team from the University of Utah in the United States.

Doctoral dissertation entitled "Experimental and computational determination of the operating characteristics and efficiency of a micro-cogeneration system", defended with honours in 2020, was carried out under the supervision of prof. Janusz Kotowicz.

In recent years, Dr Eng. Wojciech Uchman was also a recipient of scholarships from the Foundation for Polish Science (START) and the National Science Centre (Etiuda).  From 2022, he also participates in the work of the University of Victoria in Canada as Adjunct Professor.
