We regret to inform you that on October 7, 2022, at the age of eighty-one, Dr Eng. Roman Domagała has passed away.

A great scholar, a distinguished academic teacher, a man of great knowledge and experience, a practitioner and researcher. A teacher of many generations of engineers and masters.

Dr Eng. Roman Domagała has been associated with the Silesian University of Technology since 1968. In the years 1973-1983 he was the head of the General Mechanical Technology Team, a branch of the Silesian University of Technology in Dąbrowa Górnicza. In 1997-2003 he was the head of the Technology Laboratory at the Institute of Engineering and Biomedical Materials. In 2003, he was the head of the Postgraduate Studies and the Dean’s Plenipotentiary for Engineering Studies at CKI-Rybnik. In the years 1999-2003 he was the chairman of the Association of students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

He was the author of nearly 70 scientific publications and a book, the head of numerous scientific research works culminating in many industrial implementations, as well as patents and invention projects.

He has been awarded numerous decorations, including the Gold Cross of Merit, Medal of the National Education Commission, Merit Badge for the Silesian University of Technology, Silver Badge for Merit for the Development of the Machine Industry, Silver Badge for Merit in the Development of the Katowice Voivodeship, Silver Honorary Badge of SIMP and ZNP Gold Badge.

A very kind man, right and cordial, with an unprecedented sense of humour. He will remain forever in our memory! We express our deepest sympathy to the family of the Doctor and his loved ones.

The Holy Mass will be celebrated on 25 May 2024 at 11:00 in the Church of St. Bartholomew in Gliwice. The funeral will take place on the same day immediately after the Holy Mass at the Lipowy Cemetery in Gliwice.
