Dr Eng. Katarzyna Turoń with the award of the Polish Academy of Sciences
Dr Eng. Katarzyna Turoń received an award from the Division IV of Technical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences. This distinction is awarded to young scientists for their published creative scientific work (or a series of works) in the field of technical sciences. The award ceremony took place on December 1st in Warsaw.
This year's laureate is a representative of the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology. The award was granted for a doctoral dissertation, defended with honours, devoted to the subject of selection of the appropriate type of car-sharing systems for the needs of urban areas. The work supports the solution to the problem of inadequately implemented or functioning car-sharing services in Poland and contributes to the development of modern mobility and transformation taking place on the individual automotive market.
- The award received is to honour my scientific activities to date. It is a great honour for me that I was able to be among the winners selected from among applications from all over Poland. Importantly, it was the only awarded work devoted to the subject of transport. I am very pleased that it has been appreciated, especially since we are currently dealing with a revolution in transport, which requires advanced research on modern forms of transport - emphasized the laureate. She added that the prize had not been awarded to a representative of our University for a long time.
The award ceremony was attended by representatives of the authorities of the Silesian University of Technology: Vice-Rector for General Affairs prof. dr hab. Eng. Bogusław Łazarz and Vice-Rector for Science and Development - prof. dr hab. Eng. Marek Pawelczyk.
Congratulations!
