Don’t be fooled by fake news! Enter the competition
Fake news hits us every day. How do you distinguish them from reliable information and not allow yourself to be manipulated? This knowledge is needed by everyone today, which is why any initiatives that are to expand our competences in this area deserve special attention. One such initiative is the Science Checks project, which organizes the Fake Busters competition.
We invite our students and PhD students of the Silesian University of Technology to participate in it.
The Fake Busters competition is an element of the “Nauka Sprawdza” (Science Checks) project, which has been planned for several years, which assumes monitoring, analysis and unmasking of scientific fake news appearing in the Polish information space. The project is implemented by the Centre for Cooperation and Dialogue of the University of Warsaw (CWID) – a university-wide unit established at the University of Warsaw as part of the multiannual program. The “Nauka Sprawdza” project is funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
The Fake Busters competition is aimed at students and PhD students who will become informal ambassadors of the fight against disinformation. Meeting the tasks of the Fake Busters competition will equip participants with the competences necessary to verify information, as well as the ability to react and create clear and reliable messages.
The competition consists of three stages. The first one lasts until February 20th.
Registration and details are available on the competition website https://fakebusters.uw.edu.pl/
