We regret to inform you that on September 19th, 2022, Arch. Joanna Tymkiewicz, PhD, Eng professor of the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology, died.
Joanna Tymkiewicz, PhD, Eng., prof. of SUT, graduated in 1991, and began working at the Silesian University of Technology in 1992. She obtained her doctoral degree in 1999 and her habilitation in 2014.
She will be remembered as an excellent educator and an insightful and creative scientist. In her work, she was interested in the relationship between man and architectural space, design using the principles of ergonomics, as well as qualitative research in architecture. For many years she was engaged in scientific research on the architecture of building facades. In her work as an academic teacher, she combined vast knowledge with passion and scientific interests. She was appreciated and liked by students.
For her scientific and didactic activity, she has received many awards and distinctions. She was a member of the Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of the Polish Academy of Sciences branch in Katowice. She was also an active Member and President of the Polish Ergonomic Society at the Silesian Branch.
Funeral services will be held on September 22nd, 2022. At 9.30 a.m. the Holy Mass will begin in the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Gliwice, the last farewell will take place immediately after the mass at the Central Cemetery in Gliwice.
