Cyber Security of Industrial Systems - a new postgraduate programme
Cyber security of industrial systems - is a new postgraduate programme offered by the Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering and Industrial Automation at the Silesian University of Technology. JSW S.A. and ITG KOMAG will cooperate with the University in this field.
An agreement concerning this matter - between JSW S.A., the Silesian University of Technology and ITG KOMAG - was signed on 20 May this year. The objectives of the agreement are the intention to promote and develop cooperation in the field of cyber security between science and business, cooperation in implementing innovative projects and research programmes, as well as dissemination of their results.
One of the cooperation areas is the launch of a postgraduate programme: Cyber Security of Industrial Systems.
- The postgraduate studies: Cyber Security of Industrial Systems are in line with the mission of the Silesian University of Technology. They are aimed at developing staff at the highest level. They will be the first such studies to include not only IT but also OT and the elements of product and service certification in the field of cyber security. We also plan to implement engineering projects that will support solutions to technical and organisational issues related to the functioning in the area of cyber security at JSW S.A. - said Dean of the Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering and Industrial Automation, Prof. Franciszek Plewa.
The signatories of the agreement will also cooperate on preparing guidelines for assessing and testing the cyber security of products and services. The cooperation will result in the development of recommendations for the configuration of devices, software and services, and active training on cyber security.
The agreement was signed by the Dean of the Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering and Industrial Automation Prof. Franciszek Plewa, President of JSW S.A. Tomasz Cudny, Director of ITG KOMAG Dariusz Prostański PhD, DSc, Eng. Deputy Minister of State Assets Piotr Pyzik was also present at the signing.
