Crowds visited the stand of the Faculty of Architecture at 4 DESIGN DAYS
Crowds of visitors, new socio-economic contacts and excellent promotion of science at the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology - this is how you can briefly summarize the past edition of 4 DESIGN DAYS, during which scientists and students of the Silesian University of Technology presented themselves.
From January 25 to 28, one of the largest events for architecture, decor and design enthusiasts took place at the International Congress Centre in Katowice. 4 DESIGN DAYS, as usual, attracted crowds of residents from all over the region who were looking for inspiration and learning about design trends. Discussions on this topic took place with the participation of scientists from the Silesian University of Technology. Thanks to the involvement of employees and students of the Faculty of Architecture, an attractive stand was also created. The main gem here was a ceramic model of the academic housing estate in Gliwice.
- This year we focused on presenting crafts. Crafts supporting architects and interior designers. The mosaic we presented was an example of this. Architecture should benefit from cooperation with craftsmen, artists and producers, in line with the Bauhaus idea, said dr Krzysztof Groń, vice-dean of the Faculty of Architecture. - This fair creates conditions for students to meet producers and designers and talk about possible fields of cooperation. I prepare them all year round to present themselves at the fair, because it is a great opportunity for them - added dr Groń.
Students presented visitors with a mosaic made during classes at the Faculty of Architecture. The work lasted over a year. Young designers also showed off their ideas for recycled furniture. Furniture made of cardboard or old tires was presented.
The Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, dr Eng. arch. Klaudiusz Fross, prof. SUT emphasized that 4 DESIGN DAYS is an important event at which the Silesian University of Technology has been present for years.
- We always promote the Faculty of Architecture, our students and the achievements of our employees. All our industrial partners are present at these fairs, with whom we talk about new scientific and research projects, and we even join grant projects together. This is an excellent opportunity to establish good business relationships, said during the fair dr hab. engineer arch. Klaudiusz Fross, professor of the Silesian University of Technology.
During 4 DESIGN DAYS there was also a debate entitled: "The game of the estate, the game for the future of the living environment", led by dr hab. engineer arch. Tomasz Bradecki, prof. SUT The aim of the debate was to discuss social awareness and innovative education in the field of shaping attractive housing estates. A card game created at the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology was also presented.
