Crowds at the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering
Such crowds have not been seen at the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering in Katowice for a long time. On April 26th, the Open Day and the Day with the Employer took place here. About 400 secondary school pupils from all over the region visited the Faculty.
Open Days at the faculties of the Silesian University of Technology are an ideal opportunity to present the educational offer.
- We periodically organize an Open Day and a Day with the Employer at the Faculty. First of all, we want to present cooperation with the industry, so at the stands you can meet companies that immediately offer our graduates a job. Modern education must be based on cooperation with industry and the socio-economic environment. With us, this cooperation covers all directions, but the apple in our eye is rail transport - said the Dean of the Faculty - dr hab. Eng. Piotr Folęga, prof. of SUT.
It is rail transport that is the field of study that can be studied in the dual form, which means combining science with professional practice. Yesterday, candidates for studies could get acquainted not only with the education offer, but also see laboratories and equipment that is used during classes.
- Car and aviation simulators, e.g. of a glider, hydrogen drives, e.g. used in railways, as well as car diagnostics - all this can be seen at our Faculty and this is what we deal with on a daily basis. In this way, we want to show candidates that everyone can find an interesting field of study with us - added dr hab. Eng. Damian Hadryś, prof. SUT, vice-dean for education.
Yesterday was also an opportunity to meet students of the Faculty, who presented their activities in scientific clubs to their younger colleagues from secondary schools.
- We have 10 student science clubs. Today, we can see projects created by the students themselves. These are simulators, observation posts. This is an excellent proof that young people can develop their interests with us also after classes - added dr Eng. Adam Mańka from the Department of Railway Transport.
One of the students who is active in the science club is Krzysztof Kler, the leader of SKN Silesia Automotive. - We build racing cars. We go with them to international competitions. I have always seen myself in this automotive world and that is why I chose this faculty and I do not regret it. I recommend it to all enthusiasts - assured the student.
