Cooperation of Silesian University of Technology with Silesian Railways
Silesian University of Technology signed a cooperation agreement with Silesian Railways. The agreement will concern the improvement of educational programs for the needs of the carrier, the implementation of research and development works, the organization of student internships and the employment of University graduates.
The agreement was signed by the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Prof. Marek Pawełczyk and the President of the Silesian Railways, Krzysztof Klimosz.
- Silesian University of Technology needs excellent partners and that is certainly the Silesian Railways. The university has a wide range of activities in the field of rail transport, we have the appropriate faculty at the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering, where many students are educated. There are many fields to cooperate with the Silesian Railways. We can engage the company more in education, internships or joint projects that would enable the acquisition of appropriate infrastructure to train drivers so badly needed for the company – said the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology Prof. Marek Pawełczyk.
Silesian Railways plans to employ the best graduates of Silesian University of Technology.
- Today there is a very big problem with acquiring specialists in the field of railway transport. There is an acute shortage of drivers, engineers responsible for safety, people operating warehouses, and any cooperation with universities that will allow to prepare qualified employees is very valuable to us – said Krzysztof Klimosz, President of the Silesian Railways.
The agreement will also cover the implementation of joint research and development works.
We would also like our cooperation to be related to research activities. We have excellent scientists who cooperated with various companies in the field of railway, and I think that these competences can also be used to support the Silesian Railways – emphasized the Rector.
As part of the agreement, employees of the Silesian Railways will be able to improve their qualifications at various types of specialized courses, postgraduate and doctoral studies carried out at the Silesian University of Technology.
