Conference “Youth for Science – Building the Future of Development”
Behind us is the first edition of the conference “Young for Science – Building the Future of Development” – an event of exceptional importance, addressed to secondary school pupils facing one of the most important choices in their lives: The decision about their educational and professional path. The organizer of the event was the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology.
The conference has become an important platform for inspiration, dialog and conscious planning of the future based on science and modern technologies. The event was not only an opportunity to present the educational offer of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, but above all to show wide possibilities of competence development through PBL projects, internships, courses, and cooperation with leading companies, which are members of the Faculty’s Social Council.
The conference program included inspiring lectures conducted by experts of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Dr Eng. Wojciech Jamrozik in his speech “From sensor to superpower. Does AI really work in the industry?” introduced the practical applications of artificial intelligence, while Dr Eng. Piotr Sakiewicz presented a modern approach to materials engineering and manufacturing technology in his lecture “Spells from Sand.”
An interesting element of the event were also speeches on educational opportunities and career development. The culmination of the conference was the laboratory practical workshops, which enabled the participants to have direct contact with the modern laboratory infrastructure of the Faculty and experience working in conditions similar to the real engineering environment.
