Conference on Poland's energy security
The participants of the scientific conference that took place on December 1st at the Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering and Industrial Automation of the Silesian University of Technology discussed Poland's energy security.
Vice-Rector for Social and Economic Environment prof. Janusz Kotowicz welcomed the participants on behalf of the Rector prof. Arkadiusz Mężyk. Prof. Kotowicz reminded that the Silesian University of Technology has been creating scientific facilities for the industry in the region for 77 years, thus fulfilling its mission of engaging in important processes of regional and national development.
- The slogan of energy security involves many challenges, especially today. They are related to the energy transformation and the geopolitical situation in Europe and in the world. Our goal is to look for solutions in this area (…). The Silesian University of Technology wants to participate in these activities - said prof. Janusz Kotowicz.
The first speech was given by the Undersecretary in the Ministry of State Assets, Government Plenipotentiary for Energy Transformation and Mining, Piotr Pyzik, who spoke about energy security and the issue of Poland's energy sovereignty. – We want the Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering and Industrial Automation of the Silesian University of Technology, a prestigious European research university, to create scientific development and technical progress (…) in the energy security of our country – summed up Piotr Pyzik.
The program of the conference also included lectures by invited guests: prof. Władysław Mielczarski from the Lodz University of Technology, prof. Stanisław Pruska from the Central Mining Institute and dr Tomasz Rogala from the Polish Mining Group.
