In recent days, the south-western part of Poland has been hit by a huge flood. We are witnessing the tragedy of many people, institutions, and local governments.

The Conference of Rectors of Polish Technical Universities expresses its solidarity with all those who have been harmed as a result of this tragic event.

At the same time, we express our solidarity with universities which have recently suffered damage to infrastructure and with those associated with higher education, who have lost their possessions, suffered damage to health and, in the most tragic cases, lost their loved ones.

In these difficult times, we join in the support for the benefit of the victims and services providing assistance, and at the same time, within the framework the opportunities that universities have, we offer this support.

We encourage all members of the academic community – employees, PHD students and students to support fundraisers and other forms of assistance to individuals who have suffered in this tragedy and are in need. We are convinced that thanks to cooperation and solidarity, we will be able to help those who found themselves in such a difficult situation.

The Conference of Rectors of Polish Technical Universities remains open to further actions that can support both universities and those affected by floods.
