Employees of the Faculty of Civil Engineering honoured the memory of professors of Lviv, who were murdered by the German occupant on July the 4th, 1941 in the Wulecki Hills in Lviv. Representatives of the Silesian University of Technology also took part in celebrations commemorating the 84th anniversary of this event in Lviv.
July the 4th, 2025 is another anniversary of one of the most tragic and symbolic crimes committed by the Germans on the Polish intelligentsia – the murder of Lviv professors. On the night of July 3rd -4th, 1941, in the Wulecki Heights (now Ukraine), German gendarmes and Einsatzgruppen officers murdered 25 prominent representatives of the Polish academic community — professors, doctors, lecturers — as well as members of their families.
Among them were the Vice-Rector of the Lviv Polytechnic, Antoni Łomnicki, writer and translator Tadeusz Boy-Żeleński, Rector of the Jan Kazimierz University in Lviv, Roman Longchamp de Berie.
