Climate Personality of the Year wanted!

The Ministry of Climate and Environment has announced a contest for the Climate Personality of the Year. The aim of the competition is to reward people who work for the climate and the environment in an unconventional and innovative way and have achievements in this field. The deadline for submitting applications is the 15th of September 2025.

In the face of the deepening climate crisis, we need not only systemic change, but also positive examples and inspiration. It is important to recognize people who, in a particular way, both in and outside their work, engage in climate and environmental activities and thus contribute to increasing environmental awareness.

That is why the Ministry of Climate and Environment launched the initiative to announce the contest for the Climate Man of the Year.

Who can enter the competition?

Teacher – an adult with the status of a teacher who, as part of the lessons and/or additional (extracurricular) activities:

· educates in an original way about climate and environment and actively works to increase environmental awareness among students, but also in the school and local community;

· teaches in an effective and innovative way how to tackle and adapt to climate change, including the role of local and community action to protect the climate and the environment;

· effectively motivates and supports students in expanding their knowledge in this area and engages the school and school community in pro-ecological initiatives.

Young scientist – a person from 18 to 35 years of age who:

· has scientific achievements in the form of scientific publications or completed scientific research in the areas of: environmental protection, nature protection, sustainable development, circular economy, climate protection, mitigation of the effects of climate change or mitigation and adaptation to climate change, energy transformation and green technologies and related technologies;

· shows social commitment and popularizes science in the above-mentioned areas.

Social worker – an adult who is engaged in pro-social or educational activities for the protection of the environment, nature protection, sustainable development, circular economy, climate protection, mitigation and adaptation to climate change and related, which are carried out in an effective and effective manner and are unconventional and innovative.

The competition applications can be submitted by 15 September 2025 via e-mail to the following address: klimatyczny.czlowiek.roku@klimat.gov.pl. It is possible to take part in only one category of the competition (one person – one application). Detailed information and rules in the competition rules available at: klimatyczny.czlowiek.roku@klimat.gov.pl.

It is worth noting that in each of the three categories a Winner or a Winner will be selected and optionally two distinguished persons will be selected. Three main prizes of PLN 30 000 gross will be awarded to the winners/winners in a given category and optionally six prizes of PLN 10 000 gross for the winners.
