Christmas Eve for foreign students
Over two hundred foreign students of the Silesian University of Technology took part in the International Christmas Meeting - Christmas Eve for foreign students. The ceremony was an opportunity to meet their international colleagues, sing Christmas carols together and try traditional Polish Christmas Eve dishes.
The meeting took place at CKS Mrowisko. For the students, it was a substitute for the atmosphere of Christmas. – During this event, we want to introduce our culture to international students. At the common table, we talk about Polish customs, and they tell us about their own and this is an amazing enrichment. When we meet another person with different views, we broaden our horizons, and this makes us better people. We really want these students to feel appreciated - said Beata Kurzawińska from the Foreign Languages Centre of the Silesian University of Technology.
The Christmas meeting was attended by students from almost every corner of the world, including China, Rwanda, Pakistan and India.
- It is a great meeting, I am having a lot of fun, learning new things and it is very pleasant - said Nicolette from Zimbabwe who was present at the meeting.
During the event, students could not only try traditional Christmas Eve dishes such as borscht with dumplings, fish or gingerbread, but also make Christmas decorations together and decorate the Christmas tree. There were also Christmas quizzes and a competition for the longest Christmas tree chain. There was also carolling together, students presented the most popular carols in their native language.
The meeting was organized by the Foreign Languages Centre, the Study Service Centre, the International Relations Office - International Mobility Office and the Exchange Student Organization.
