Boredom Week in the European City of Science!
August is the month of holidays. Some people may have already become bored after a few weeks of rest. You will learn how to deal with it and how to take advantage of this state during Boredom Week, which starts on August the 5th .
The event is part of the European City of Science Katowice 2024 celebrations.
Science amazes us constantly. It is even able to deal with the topic of... boredom, which you will find out in the coming days during the Boredom Week, which is the thirty-first of all 50 Weeks in the City of Science .
- During Boredom Week, we take it easy. The middle of summer is the perfect time to sit down on a deckchair and let your mind sail freely. Who knows, maybe a relaxed brain will lead you to a new great discovery? – this is the message the organizers of Boredom Week bring to the inhabitants of the region.
The plan includes, among others: daily live observations of the most boring scientific experiment in the world - the so-called the pitch drop experiment, which has been ongoing for almost one hundred years, although the event we are interested in occurs only once every 10 years.
In addition, you will also be able to lie down on the Rawa River every day and listen to scientific podcasts from the European City of Science.
In turn, psychologists will tell you about what the mind does when it is not occupied with anything, and the bravest of you will be able to take part in an experiment: how long can you really do nothing?
