The inauguration of the new school year at a school in Gliwice was attended by the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Prof. Marek Pawełczyk, who officially inaugurated the new school year with the symbolic ringing of the bell and extended his best wishes for success to all students. The event was also attended by the Vice Rector for General Affairs, Prof. Bożena Skołud.

The ceremony opened with the national anthem, sung jointly by all participants, followed by the academic hymn “Gaudeamus Igitur” performed by the student choir. "Participants of the inauguration also attended a lecture by Małgorzata Szymaszek, PhD, a physics teacher, who spoke, among other things, about students' participation in events organised by the Polish Space Agency in connection with Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski’s flight to the International Space Station".

During the event, the winners of the subject competitions were also awarded. The winners are: Olga Pokojska, Emilia Charuk, Marek Kasza, Artur Pyka, Adam Rumiński, Karol Simon, Kinga Indeka, and Antoni Starzec. The ceremony was honoured by the presence of the Vice Rector, Prof. Bożena Skołud, who emphasised the importance of following one’s passion and being open to the subjects offered at the secondary school. Also present were the Director of the Rybnik Branch of the University of Economics in Katowice, Prof. Tomasz Zieliński, and Bartłomiej Knosala, PhD, from the Department of Applied Social Sciences at the Faculty of Organisation and Management of the Silesian University of Technology, who delivered a lecture on the vision of technology and architecture reflected in the works of Richard Buckminster Fuller.

"During the ceremony, our students, Gloria Orzyszek and Maria Kubek, told us about Albrecht Durer's graphics," said Krzysztof Lazaj, Director of ALO Rybnik. "First-year students who took their oath were especially warmly received. The Vice Rector, Prof. Skołud, formally welcomed them as students of the Academic Secondary Comprehensive School of the Silesian University of Technology by presenting them with the school badge. To mark this significant occasion, we jointly listened to the traditional academic hymn 'Gaudeamus Igitur', which reflects the joy, youth, and pleasures of life within the academic community.
