Bebok from the Silesian University of Technology! There is a contest going on to name him
The Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology will have its own Bebok! Katowice's Beboks are small outdoor sculptures depicting friendly characters in an arrangement suited to the location. Their creator is Katowice artist Grzegorz Chudy. These are figures known from Silesian folk beliefs, which have become an attractive element of Katowice's urban architecture.
The Silesian University of Technology, the largest and oldest technical university in our region, is a leader in creating scientific achievements and innovative technical and organizational solutions. A particularly important aspect of dynamic technological and social development is the memory of the rich traditions of this region. The next step that will connect the Silesian identity of the region with our university will be to place a Bebok sculpture next to one of the faculties of the Silesian University of Technology.
Taking into account the particularly important need to strengthen the bonds between the university and the socio-economic environment, we invite you to take part in an unusual and sublime activity related to co-creating the history of our university, the city of Katowice and cultivating the rich cultural identity of our region.
We invite you to take part in a competition to choose the name of the University of Technology’s Bebok associated with the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering, which will soon appear permanently in front of the faculty’s building at 8, Krasińskiego Street in Katowice.
The competition will run until June 30th, 2025.
