AZS Politechnika Śląska's women basketball team players won in their debut
The competition in the second women's league began with the premiere victory, the basketball players of AZS Politechnika Śląska, who defeated the UKS Dwójka Kamienica Polska team 98:29 in the OSiR hall in Gliwice.
Our students experienced debut stage fright only in the first minutes, when the score was 4:4. With each subsequent action, their dominance on the court was increasing. Already in the first quarter, the advantage of coach Patryk Niczke's players began to grow quickly and at the end of the quarter they were leading 24:11.
The AZS Politechnika Śląska basketball players played quickly and decisively in defence, recording many rebounds under their own basket, after which they decided on deadly counterattacks. In the next three quarters, their rivals never scored ten points, while our players scored over twenty points each time, even though the coach decided to rotate the team.
His players wanted to present themselves to the fans as best as possible. You could see a lot of joy in their game, but above all, commitment. The women basketball team players fought fiercely for every ball, even though their advantage was huge. We also liked the offensive actions, which were dynamic but also diverse. Hard work in training has already brought the first results.
- We are very happy that our debut in the second league turned out so well - commented Patryk Niczke after the match. - We fought to compete again after a long break, so this win gives a lot of satisfaction. However, we are aware that our opponents did not come to Gliwice with the strongest squad and therefore could not present their full potential. We do not fall into hurray optimism. We will continue to work hard in training. Now we have a much tougher opponent ahead of us, ŻKK Olimpia Wodzisław Śląski, and we want to use the next few days to prepare for this match as best as we can.
The most effective player on the court was Olga Lizurej, who scored 19 points. Unfortunately, Julia Szydłowska suffered an ankle injury in the fourth quarter and had to leave the court with the help of her friends. We keep our fingers crossed for a quick recovery.

The match between AZS Politechnika Śląska and ŻKK Olimpia Wodzisław Śląski, which also won its first match, will be played on October 21 at 17:30 in the OSIR hall at 26, Akademicka Street in Gliwice. Admission is free for fans.
