Awards to young scientists 

Four scientists associated with the Silesian University of Technology are among the winners of the prestigious START  2026 program, implemented by the Foundation for Polish Science. The aim of the competition is to support outstanding young scientists and encourage them to further their scientific development.   

The START program is the oldest scholarship program in Poland addressed to the most talented young researchers at the beginning of their scientific career. The laureates will receive an annual scholarship of PLN 30 thousand.  The awarded individuals and their research fields  are: 

  • Dr Eng. Anna Wolny, Chemical Technology 
  • Łukasz Jakubski, Chemical Technology 
  • Maksymilian Jędrzejowski, Geophysics 
  • Ghiasirad Hamed, Mining and Power Industry  

Moreover, Dr Eng. Anna Wolny is among three people whose research achievements were assessed by the reviewers of the competition as outstanding. The scholarships of the additionally awarded persons will be increased to PLN 38 thousand.  

More than 800 applications were submitted to this year’s competition.
