Awarded in the international competition
Dr Eng. Joanna Tobiasz from the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science and Dr Eng. Oktawian Bialas from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering took first place in the international competition of universities associated in the Progress 3 consortium for the best doctoral thesis defended in 2023.
Dr Eng. Joanna Tobiasz won the first prize in the "Health and applications in health care" category, and Dr Eng. Oktawian Bialas in the category " Competitiveness of the machinery industry, material research".
In the same competition, among the winners there were six representatives of the Silesian University of Technology. Second places were taken by Dr Eng. Maciej Klimas (Faculty of Electrical Engineering, category "Information technologies and electrical engineering"), Dr Eng. Anna Skorupa (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, category " Health and applications in health care"), Dr Eng. Adam Skowronek (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, category "Competitiveness of the machinery industry, material research") and Dr Eng. Bartłomiej Rutczyk (category "Raw materials, energy and environmental protection"). Moreover, third place was taken by Dr Eng. Justyna Mika (Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science, category "Health and applications in health care") and Dr Eng. Katarzyna Młynarek-Żak (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, category "Competitiveness of the machinery industry, material research").
The award ceremony took place at the Technical University of Ostrava, which is the chairman of the Progress 3 consortium. The consortium includes sixteen member universities from Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Each member university could submit the three best doctoral theses in each category; hence the competition was very fierce.
