Award of the Association of Public Relations and Promotion of Polish Universities for the podcast “Let’s talk about science”
The podcast of the Silesian University of Technology “Let’s talk about science” was once again awarded. On 7 May, during the gala of the Association of Public Relations and Promotion of Polish Universities “PRom”, awards for the best initiatives promoting university and science in Polish universities were presented. In the “University Media” category, the award was given to the podcast “Let’s talk about science.”
We are pleased to announce that for the second time the podcast of the Silesian University of Technology has been appreciated by a group of experts dealing with the promotion of science and universities. After the POP Science award, received in December 2024 during the Silesian Science Festival, this time the podcast was evaluated by a nationwide jury. The jury appreciated the diversity of topics presented in the podcast and the regularity of the published content. The awarded team consists of: Katarzyna Siwczyk – journalist, Jolanta Skwaradowska – journalist, Anna Świderska – journalist, Martin Huć – journalist and sound engineers: Przemysław Bratkowski and Tomasz Stokłosa.
Let us remind you that the podcast “Let’s talk about science” has been implemented by the Promotion and Communication Centre of the Silesian University of Technology since February 2023. By the end of 2024, it had reached more than 23 thousand listeners via streaming channels including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music and Transistor.fm.
From February 2023 to December 2024, we have already completed over 100 episodes in which we talk about scientific projects implemented within the walls of the Silesian University of Technology. We conduct conversations with guests - students, PhD students and scientists in both Polish and English, thus reaching a wide audience. Among the topics we address are those that interest both the university community - recruitment issues, current grants and scientific projects conducted at the university, student life, but also topics that interest the whole society.
We also want to send our podcasts to listeners not connected with the Silesian University of Technology, who are convinced that science has an impact on their daily lives. Therefore, the topics of the talks are current problems, including energy transformation, climate change, the impact of artificial intelligence on our daily lives and education in the field of cybersecurity.
