Autumn Job Fair at the Silesian University of Technology
Almost one hundred exhibitors, several thousand visitors, hundreds of job and training offers also for people with disabilities - in the "Nowa" hall of the SUT Sports Centre in Gliwice, the on-site part of the Autumn Job, Entrepreneurship, Technology and Accessibility Fair took place.
The Fair was attended by entrepreneurs looking for employees, institutions offering training, organizations and associations providing support to people with disabilities and people in a disadvantaged life situation, as well as student organizations and research clubs. The Fair was opened by: Vice-Rector for General Affairs prof. Bogusław Łazarz and Vice-Rector for Infrastructure and Promotion dr hab. Eng. Tomasz Trawiński, prof. of Silesian University of Technology
-“ We meet the needs of students and employers. Currently, we have an employee market rather than an employer market. Therefore, it is companies that look for contact with students to invite them to internships or cooperation. We want our graduates to be well-prepared and oriented after graduation, so that they can consciously undertake work” - said Vice-Rector prof. Bogusław Łazarz.
- “Students should know what their options are when choosing an employer. There are many factors that influence this choice, including attractiveness of work, easy access, development opportunities. And it is at this exchange that entrepreneurs have the opportunity to encourage students and show that they are good employers” - emphasized the Vice-Rector for Infrastructure and Promotion, dr Eng. Tomasz Trawiński, prof. SUT
As every year, the interest in the Fair is huge. Stands with job and training offers are visited by several thousand people, both students, doctoral students and secondary school students.
- “The Fair is addressed to the entire academic community of the Silesian University of Technology and universities with which we cooperate, but also to secondary school students and secondary school graduates who choose their education path. During the Fair, they can find out what is in demand, what competences are valued and in which fields of study one can find a good job” - said Barbara Odoszewska from the Student Career Office of the Silesian University of Technology.
Job offers for engineering graduates dominated during the Fair.
- “We are looking for engineers of various specialties, both general and construction, as well as architects, electricians and automation engineers. We are looking for engineering staff from renowned universities such as the Silesian University of Technology. Our company gladly employs graduates of this university. Our employees include many graduates of the Silesian University of Technology, and we are very pleased with them” - said Jacek Lamch, Measurement and Start-up Director at Mostostal Zabrze Elektro.
Students visiting the Autumn Job Fair had the opportunity to see job offers and talk to potential employers.
- “We are looking for offers in the field of architecture and construction. Such fairs are also an opportunity to find out what employers expect” - say Joanna and Karolina, who are about to graduate in architecture at the Silesian University of Technology.
Labour market institutions, such as labour offices, youth employment offices and career offices were also present during the Fair.
The Autumn Job, Entrepreneurship, Technology and Accessibility Fair is held for the 16th time.
