At the Silesian University of Technology, the Silesian Graduates Salon is being held
Almost thirty universities from all over Poland, several thousand secondary school pupils and the best education offers – Silesian Graduates Salon 2024 is taking place at the Silesian University of Technology. The event is taking place from 19th to 20th of September at the Education and Congress Centre of the Silesian University of Technology.
During the event, secondary school graduates and teachers can learn not only the educational offer of the university, but also receive full information about the matriculation exam in 2025 and the rules of recruitment for studies. For most of the participants, the Silesian Graduates Salon is the first opportunity in their life to visit the university campus, talk with representatives of higher education institutions about the offer of education, the rules of recruitment, the conditions of studying.
- We want to present the offer of the Silesian University of Technology in such a way as to encourage students to study at our University. Therefore, at the faculty stands there are not only lecturers, but also doctoral students and students. We present our education in an innovative way, we show that our offer is diverse, but also individualized with what we stand out - said the rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Prof. Marek Pawełczyk.

- The Silesian University of Technology offers project-oriented education, we implement up to four hundred such projects, where students carry out a project, that is, respond to the calls of the modern world - adds the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education, Prof. Anna Chrobok - Our University also participates in the "Universities of the future" program, which promotes personalized education. As part of the project, we select a group of people who have an individual study plan. We also try to cooperate with students in an active way, not necessarily in the form of boring lectures, but, for example, seminars during which we encourage them to discuss – emphasizes the Vice-Rector.
According to the Rector, Prof Marek Pawełczyk, it is important to encourage young people to study, because although there are no shortage of job offers nowadays, studies can provide them with a better future.
- It is not only about learning, but it is also the opportunity to shape one’s personality, certain maturity and it takes several years to do so Time spent immediately in industry or business is time focused on individual tasks, but here at the university one can think more consciously about one’s future – added the Rector.

Every year, the Silesian Graduates Salon attracts crowds of pupils interested in studying.
“The Silesian Graduates Salon is a place where young people meet their future. Pupils very often make a decision about their studies at the last moment, so it would be good for them to have a better understanding of what to do to pass the secondary school diploma well and then get to their favourite university. It happens that young people visiting the Silesian Graduates Salon verify their ideas about studying or specific fields of study. They emphasize that, for example, they did not know many interesting things about a given department or field of study - said Andrzej Wyszyński from the "Perspektywy" Educational Foundation.
During this year’s 18th edition of the Perspektywy Graduates Salon, universities from all over Poland and all faculties of the Silesian University of Technology present themselves. Each of them tried to attract young people not only with an attractive offer of education, but also by presenting their inventions.
There must always be something that catches the eye. Our department has prepared two exhibits, one is a robotic arm called an industrial manipulator, which can move an egg in the same position, even though the arm rotates in three-dimensional space. The second exhibit is a talking head, a social robot that can talk to users, answers given questions and encourages students to study at the Silesian University of Technology - said Dr Eng. Oliwia Krause from the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science.

For many pupils, a visit to the Silesian University of Technology was the first visit to the university, a chance to learn about the offer of education and talk with students.
- “We are curious what fields of study are here and during such an event we can learn more than there is on the Interne”t - said Kajetan - a graduate pupil from the School Complex No. 3 in Kędzierzyn-Koźle. –“ I think that the Silesian University of Technology is distinguished by the fact that its departments are located in several cities in Silesia – Gliwice, Katowice, Zabrze or Rybnik. There are also many interesting fields of study, for example related to technology” - adds Marcel from the Kędzierzyn school.
Perspektywy Silesian Graduates Salon 2024 is not only an opportunity to learn about the offer of university education from all over the country. Pupils visiting the event can meet with experts of the Regional Examination Board in Jaworzno, who will provide them with the most important information about next year’s matriculation exams.
