Assistant professor at the Silesian University of Technology won the motorcycle race
Dr Eng. Adam Wojaczek, assistant professor at the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering, won the second round of the BMW M Cup. The competition took place on the Hungarian Panonia Ring track. In the general classification, the native of Rybnik is currently ex aequo third.
Over 200 horsepower - this is what characterizes the motorcycle raced by Dr Adam Wojaczek. He returned to competition after a few years break and immediately with success.
- The BMW M Cup is a brand cup; it is usually organized by the importer or dealer of a given brand - says Dr Adam Wojaczek. - This one is organized by BMW Sikora. In the brand cup, the races are held on the same bikes - the new BMW S 1000 RR model. They are very similarly prepared so as not to distort the competition. We also drive on the same Pirelli tires.
The assistant professor at our University has been associated with the automotive industry almost forever.
- I have been repairing and riding two-wheelers since I can remember - recalls the winner of the BMW M Cup race. - At the age of fourteen, I had a holiday episode at the RKM Rybnik speedway school. With age and budget came the time for bigger and more powerful bikes. In 2014, I also started driving on racetracks in our part of Europe. Four years later I took part in the Polish Cup in the Rookie 1000 class, finally taking sixth place, despite the lack of starts in the full cycle. The following years were devoted to amateur competitions and trainings. Now I decided to come back and try my hand at professional racing.
BMW M Cup is a cycle consisting of seven rounds - three are played in Poznań, four abroad.
- Domestic rounds are held on the occasion of the Polish Motorcycle Racing Championship, while foreign rounds are held together with the rounds of the Alpe Adria Championship, i.e. the Central European Championship. At these competitions we go as a separate class, often the largest.
Competition on motorcycles is, among other things, huge speed, adrenaline, stress, sharp turns, every fraction of a second counts.
- Plus, the pressure of the result, trying to improve your own records, constantly playing with physics, grip, your own barriers - enumerates the motorcyclist. - Logistics and financial problems in this expensive and unfortunately niche sport are also significant. The most important, however, is the spirit of sporting competition, helping each other. We are rivals on the track and friends off it. This is how lifelong friendships are made. Taking this opportunity, I invite companies interested in sponsorship and advertising cooperation to contact me.
And next weekend, another round, this time on the track in Poznań. We keep our fingers crossed for further successes and the best possible position in the final general classification.
