ArchiDream Silesia Multiconference
On the 17th -18th of April, another edition of the “ArchiDream Silesia Multiconference” took place. This year's event had an extended and unique formula - it was an event with a broad perspective, combining not only scientific discussion, but also a presentation of activities in cooperation with the environment and educational activities. The conference was accompanied by four exhibitions of professors and artists from national and foreign universities. Moreover, as part of the Multiconference, a scientific session of doctoral students under the patronage of the Committee on Architecture and Urban Planning of the Polish Academy of Sciences and a conference of student research clubs of the Faculty of Architecture took place.
The event was attended by the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Marek Pawełczyk and Vice-Rector for Science and International Cooperation Prof. Dr. Hab. Eng. Sebastian Werle. The organizers would like to thank very much for the presence and support of this event. It was co-organized by the Polish Academy of Sciences and received honorary patronage of: The Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship, Mayor of Katowice, Mayor of the City of Gliwice and patronage of the Metropolis GZM, SARP, Katowice branch, TUP Silesian Branch, Chamber of Architects of the Republic of Poland, PLGBC, Silesian Urban Lab, as well as Media Architecture&Business, ACEE Journal, Builder.
In total, almost 200 people took part in the conference, including 30 people from abroad. During the conference, we also hosted the Dean’s authorities of several faculties of architecture from all over Poland, who took part in a parallel meeting of the Academic Forum of Architecture and Urban Planning.
This year’s edition had an extended and unique formula, as an event with a broad perspective, combining not only scientific discussion, but also the presentation of activities in cooperation with the environment and educational activities. As part of the conference, 11 scientific sessions took place, which have many years of tradition at the Faculty of Architecture:
- Region-City-Village,
- Modernity in architecture,
- Cultural Heritage,
- Architecture and Technology and Health,
- design+art+science,
- Interdisciplinary Research in Architecture.
The participants also took part in the scientific session of PhD students under the patronage of the Committee on Architecture and Urban Planning of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the “METRO dream” debate on the role of the university in cooperation with the socio-economic environment, with the participation of invited guests, the presentation of the first effects of international workshops within the CEEPUS program “Urban Regeneration as a Tool for Sustainable Development, based on the example of Gliwice” and the first scientific session of the student research clubs of the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology.
ArchiDream Silesia also included accompanying events, i.e.:
- Two individual exhibitions of outstanding artists and educators associated with the University of Pristina - the Xhevdet Pantina series "Images in the depths" and the Suad Rama Exhibition "00...”.
- Exhibition by Prof. Sławomir Gzell “Record of the expected future of cities: Urban competitions from half a century ago,”
- Exhibition "Poetics of materiality. the phenomenon of Swiss architecture. landscape vs identity” (exhibition curators: Dr Hab. Eng Arch. Beata Majerska-Pałubicka, Prof. SUT, Dr Hab. Eng. Arch. Małgorzata Balcer-Zgraja, Prof. SUT, Dr Eng. Arch. Jan Kubec, Dr Eng. Arch. Damian Radwański).
