Another podium of Silesian Greenpower!

Third place on the Croft track and another award from Siemens - this was the result of students from the Silesian Greenpower science club, taking part in Formula F24+ races, who ended their longer stay in England.

Earlier, students of our University competed on the track of the famous Lotus company, which has already competed in Formula 1. There, the Bullet III car took a high, fourth place. Unfortunately, for technical reasons, the second car - SGR 2020 - did not finish the competition.

The 2020 SGR also missed the next race at Croft. However, this did not prevent our team from achieving a great third place with the second car. In addition, the Silesian Greenpower team received a special award.

- A gentleman from Siemens approached us and it turned out that he read our scientific articles on the ResearchGate portal, for which he praised us - says prof. dr hab. Eng. Andrzej Baier, coordinator of the Silesian Greenpower project. - And as it turned out later, we received a Siemens award for research using the company's software - Siemens NX, described in these scientific articles. I am very pleased with our achievements. The third and fourth places are very good results. We worked on an ongoing basis throughout our stay in England and it paid off.

Silesian Greenpower is doing great this season - in previous races their cars took first and second places twice.

- At the Lotus track, we had the opportunity to meet and exchange contacts with the Tim McQueen team from the Estonian university, making their debut in racing. Although it was the first start of the students of this team, they presented themselves with an impressive attitude - says prof. Andrzej Baier. - In addition, we are still trying to get sponsors. Although companies with which we renew our old contacts have already started to report to us.

Let us remind you that F24+ is a category in which the driver can be up to 26 years old. All cars are built with the same motors, powered by 240 W direct current. They also have the same batteries with a capacity of 36 Ah. The race lasts 60 minutes. The team that completes the most laps within that time wins.
