Announcement on recruitment for pro-quality programmes

We kindly inform you that the deadlines for submitting the applications for the following pro-quality programmes announced under the Excellence Initiative - Research University programme will soon expire.

1. Grants for the launch of scientific activity in a new research topic - applications should be submitted to the Research Office by 31 March.


The competition is addressed to young scientists within the meaning of the Act on Higher Education and Science, including PhD students of the Silesian University of Technology. Grants are intended for persons starting their scientific activity in new research topics, not related to the subject of their Master's thesis and doctoral dissertation, and not financed from external sources.


The submitted research activity should be within the priority research areas of the Silesian University of Technology, as defined in Ordinance No 66/2019 of the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology of 24 June 2019 on establishing priority research areas of the Silesian University of Technology.


Grants are awarded up to the amount of PLN 12,000 gross for the period of 18 months.
The grant can be used to finance, publication in a scientific journal included in the list of the Ministry of Education and Science, participation in an international or national conference (after the acceptance of the peer-reviewed, full text of the paper), costs related to an internship in a foreign scientific centre, publication of a scientific monograph, purchase of scientific apparatus or materials necessary to conduct research, and others.


Ordinance No 33/2020 of the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology of 4 March 2020 on the pro-quality competition for support to start scientific activity in a new research topic within the Excellence Initiative - Research University programme.

2. Grants for the breakthrough research - applications should be submitted to the Research Office by 15 April.

The competition is addressed to employees and doctoral students of the Silesian University of Technology who can participate in it individually or together with a team composed of employees, doctoral students and students of the Silesian University of Technology. Grants are intended for funding of breakthrough research not financed from the external sources.


The submitted research activity should be within the priority research areas of the Silesian University of Technology, as defined in the Ordinance No 66/2019 of the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology of 24 June 2019 on establishing priority research areas of the Silesian University of Technology.


Grants are awarded up to the amount of PLN 35,000 gross for a period of 24 months.
The grant can be used to finance, publication in a scientific journal awarded at least 100 points on the list of the Ministry of Education and Science, participation in an international or national conference (after the acceptance of the peer-reviewed, full text of the paper), costs related to an internship in a foreign scientific centre, costs concerning trips to meetings related to preparation of applications for international projects, publication of a monograph, as well as purchase of scientific apparatus or materials necessary to conduct research and others.


Ordinance No 32/2020 of the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology of 4 March 2020 on the pro-quality competition for funding of breakthrough research as part of the Excellence Initiative - Research University programme.

3. Grants for at least 3-month scientific internships in leading foreign scientific centres - applications should be submitted to the Research Office by 31 March.

The competition is addressed to employees and doctoral students of the Silesian University of Technology who are not in possession of other means to finance the internship.

Grants are awarded for a period of 12 months, up to the amount of PLN 37,000 gross for an internship in Europe and up to PLN 40,000 for an internship outside Europe.

The awarded funds can be used to cover travel costs (based on an invoice), accommodation costs (based on an invoice) and subsistence allowances..

Ordinance No 37/2020 of the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology of 4 March 2020 on the pro-quality competition for grants to carry out at least 3-month internships in leading foreign research centres, as part of the Excellence Initiative - Research University programme.
