Andrzej Warchoł PhD, Eng. passed away
We regret to inform you that on 29 August 2021 Andrzej Warchoł PhD, Eng. passed away. He was an employee of the Faculty of Metallurgy (subsequently the Faculty of Materials Engineering and Metallurgy) at the Silesian University of Technology.
Andrzej Warchoł PhD, Eng. began his professional career at the Faculty of Metallurgy in 1970 at the Division of Mechanics which was then established. In his research activities, he concentrated on the problems of strength and fatigue with particular emphasis on components of equipment operating in mines under the influence of variable loads. He was involved in the development of laboratories at the Division of Mechanics at the initial stage of the establishment of scientific and didactic facilities of this organisational unit at the Faculty of Metallurgy. Andrzej Warchoł PhD, Eng. was an academic teacher always eager to share his knowledge with students and very supportive to his younger colleagues. He was the author and co-author of teaching materials and academic textbooks. He will always be remembered as a kind person and a valued teacher.
The Mass will be celebrated on 3 September at 7.30 a.m. in St. Peter and Paul's Cathedral in Gliwice.
The funeral ceremony of the late Andrzej Warchoł PhD, Eng. will take place on 3 September at 12.00 in the chapel of the Central Cemetery in Gliwice.
